Victory to Lord Surya, victory to the maker of the day. You are the eye of the world and the form of the three gunas; everyone meditates on you.

सारथी अरुण हैं प्रभु तुम, श्वेत कमलधारी। तुम चार भुजाधारी॥ अश्व हैं सात तुम्हारे, कोटि किरण पसारे। तुम हो देव महान॥

Saarthi Arun hain prabhu tum, shwet kamaldhari, Tum chaar bhujadhari. Ashva hain saat tumhare, koti kiran pasaare, Tum ho dev mahaan.

Aruna is your charioteer, Lord; you hold the white lotus and have four arms. Seven horses draw your chariot and you spread ten million rays: you are the great god.

ऊषाकाल में जब तुम, उदयाचल आते। सब तब दर्शन पाते॥ फैलाते उजियारा, जागता तब जग सारा। करे सब तब गुणगान॥

Ushakaal mein jab tum, udayachal aate, Sab tab darshan paate. Phailaate ujiyaara, jaagta tab jag saara, Kare sab tab gungaan.

When you come over the eastern mountain at dawn, all receive your darshan. You spread light, the whole world wakes, and everyone sings your praise.

संध्या में भुवनेश्वर, अस्ताचल जाते। गोधन तब घर आते॥ गोधूलि बेला में, हर घर हर आंगन में। हो तव महिमा गान॥

Sandhya mein Bhuvaneshwar, astachal jaate, Godhan tab ghar aate. Godhuli bela mein, har ghar har aangan mein, Ho tav mahima gaan.

At evening, O lord of the worlds, you go down behind the western mountain and the cattle return home. At the hour of cow-dust, in every house and courtyard, your glory is sung.

देव दनुज नर नारी, ऋषि मुनिवर भजते। आदित्य हृदय जपते॥ स्तोत्र ये मंगलकारी, इसकी है रचना न्यारी। दे नव जीवनदान॥

Dev danuj nar naari, rishi munivar bhajte, Aditya Hriday japte. Stotra ye mangalkari, iski hai rachna nyaari, De nav jeevandaan.

Gods and demons, men and women, rishis and sages worship you and recite the Aditya Hridayam. That auspicious hymn is unique in its making and gives new life.

तुम हो त्रिकाल रचयिता, तुम जग के आधार। महिमा तब अपरम्पार॥ प्राणों का सिंचन करके, भक्तों को अपने देते। बल बुद्धि और ज्ञान॥

Tum ho trikaal rachayita, tum jag ke aadhaar, Mahima tab aparampaar. Praanon ka sinchan karke, bhakton ko apne dete, Bal buddhi aur gyan.

You are the maker of past, present and future, the support of the world; your glory is boundless. Watering all with life-breath, you give your devotees strength, intelligence and wisdom.

भूचर जलचर खेचर, सबके हो प्राण तुम्हीं। सब जीवों के प्राण तुम्हीं॥ वेद पुराण बखाने, धर्म सभी तुम्हें माने। तुम ही सर्वशक्तिमान॥

Bhoochar jalchar khechar, sabke ho praan tumhin, Sab jeevon ke praan tumhin. Ved Puraan bakhaane, dharm sabhi tumhen maane, Tum hi sarvashaktimaan.

Creatures of land, water and sky: you are the life of them all. The Vedas and Puranas praise you, every faith honours you; you alone are all-powerful.

पूजन करतीं दिशाएं, पूजे दश दिक्पाल। तुम भुवनों के प्रतिपाल॥ ऋतुएं तुम्हारी दासी, तुम शाश्वत अविनाशी। शुभकारी अंशुमान॥ ॐ जय सूर्य भगवान॥

Poojan kartin dishaayen, pooje dash dikpaal, Tum bhuvanon ke pratipaal. Rituen tumhari daasi, tum shaashvat avinaashi, Shubhkari Anshumaan. Om Jai Surya Bhagwan.

The directions and their ten guardians worship you, protector of the worlds. The seasons serve you; you are eternal and imperishable, the auspicious one of rays.
