Language Sanskrit2 verses

Ya kundendu-tushara-hara-dhavala ya shubhra-vastravrita, Ya veena-vara-danda-mandita-kara ya shveta-padmasana, Ya Brahmachyuta-Shankara-prabhritibhir devaih sada vandita, Sa mam patu Saraswati Bhagavati nihshesha-jadyapaha.

She who is white as jasmine, the moon, snow and a pearl necklace, who is dressed in white, whose hands are adorned with the veena, who sits on a white lotus, who is always worshipped by Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and the other gods: may that Goddess Saraswati, who removes all dullness, protect me.

Shuklam Brahma-vichara-sara-paramam-adyam jagad-vyapinim, Veena-pustaka-dharinim-abhayadam jadyandhakarapaham, Haste sphatika-malikam vidadhatim padmasane samsthitam, Vande tam Parameshvarim Bhagavatim buddhi-pradam Sharadam.

I worship the supreme Goddess Sharada, the giver of wisdom: radiant white, the highest essence of the contemplation of Brahman, the primal one who pervades the world, holding the veena and the book, granting fearlessness and dispelling the darkness of ignorance, holding a crystal rosary and seated on a lotus.

About the Saraswati Vandana

These two dhyana shlokas of Maa Saraswati are sung in school assemblies across India, before music and dance recitals, and at Saraswati Puja on Vasant Panchami. They picture the goddess white as jasmine, the moon and snow, dressed in white, seated on a white lotus with the veena, book and crystal rosary, and ask her to remove all dullness of mind.

Questions
