Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnuh Gurur Devo Maheshvarah, Guruh sakshat Parabrahma tasmai Shri Gurave namah.

The guru is Brahma, the guru is Vishnu, the guru is Lord Maheshvara. The guru is the Supreme Brahman itself: to that revered guru, salutations.

Akhanda-mandalakaram vyaptam yena characharam, Tat-padam darshitam yena tasmai Shri Gurave namah.

Salutations to the guru who has shown me that state, the undivided whole that pervades everything moving and unmoving.

Ajnana-timirandhasya jnananjana-shalakaya, Chakshur-unmilitam yena tasmai Shri Gurave namah.

Salutations to the guru who, with the salve-stick of knowledge, opened the eyes of one blinded by the darkness of ignorance.

Dhyana-moolam guror-moortih pooja-moolam guroh padam, Mantra-moolam guror-vakyam moksha-moolam guroh kripa.

The guru's form is the root of meditation; the guru's feet are the root of worship; the guru's word is the root of mantra; the guru's grace is the root of liberation.
