About the Barambar Pranam
Annapurna, she who is full of food, is the form of Parvati who feeds the world. In Kashi her temple stands beside Kashi Vishwanath, and Shiva himself is pictured holding out his begging bowl to her. This aarti bows to her again and again, says Brahma and Vishnu kiss her feet and the moon-crowned Shiva serves her, and ends with the seed syllables Shreem, Hreem, Aim and Kleem. It is sung on Annapurna Jayanti, the full moon of Margashirsha, at kitchen pujas and before meals, and in the days around Diwali when Kashi celebrates Annakut.
