About the Hanuman Chalisa with Meaning

The Hanuman Chalisa is the most recited prayer in India. Goswami Tulsidas, the 16th-century poet of the Ramcharitmanas, wrote its forty chaupais in Awadhi, framed by two dohas at the start and one at the end. In forty verses it tells the whole story of Hanuman's strength, wisdom and devotion to Shri Ram: the leap across the ocean, the burning of Lanka, the herb that saved Lakshman. Millions read it every morning, every Tuesday and Saturday, and in times of fear, illness or difficulty; reading it 7, 11 or 108 times is a common vow.
