About the Kuber Mantra

Kubera, son of the sage Vishravas and king of the Yakshas, is the treasurer of the gods and guardian of the north. Lakshmi gives wealth; Kubera keeps and protects it. On Dhanteras evening and on Diwali he is worshipped beside Lakshmi and Ganesha, often in the safe or account books (bahi-khata), so that wealth earned rightly stays and grows.
