The festival spans four days with specific rituals each day.

- Step 2
First Day (Nahay Khay): Devotees take a holy bath and prepare satvik food.
पहला दिन (नहाय खाय): भक्त पवित्र स्नान करते हैं और सात्विक भोजन तैयार करते हैं।

Second Day (Kharna): Fast for the entire day and break it after sunset with kheer and fruits.
दूसरा दिन (खरना): पूरे दिन व्रत रखें और सूर्यास्त के बाद खीर और फल से व्रत तोड़ें।

Third Day: Observe a 36-hour fast without water. In the evening, offer Arghya to the setting sun at a riverbank.
तीसरा दिन: 36 घंटे का निर्जला व्रत रखें। शाम को नदी किनारे डूबते सूर्य को अर्घ्य दें।

Fourth Day: Offer Arghya to the rising sun and break the fast.
