इतिहास History
Swami Vivekananda arrived in San Francisco on 22 February 1900 and founded the Vedanta Society there that year. Under Swami Trigunatitananda the society finished its temple at Webster and Filbert Streets on 7 January 1906, and a few months later it came through the great San Francisco earthquake.
In 1959 the society opened a larger New Temple in Pacific Heights, which is now the centre of its worship and is open daily for meditation. The Old Temple remains a home for monks and a venue for classes and services.
