Mere to Giridhar Gopal, doosro na koi, Jaake sir mor mukut, mero pati soi.

Mine is Giridhar Gopal, and no one else. He who wears the peacock crown is my husband.

Taat maat bhraat bandhu, aapno na koi, Chhaandi dai kul ki kaani, kaha karihai koi.

Father, mother, brother, kin: none of them is truly mine. I have given up the family's sense of honour; what can anyone do to me?

Santan dhig baithi baithi, lok laaj khoi, Ansuvan jal seenchi seenchi, prem beli boi.

Sitting again and again with the saints, I have lost the shame the world imposes. Watering it with my tears, I have planted the vine of love.

Ab to bel phail gai, aanand phal hoi, Dadhi mathi ghrit kaadhi liyo, daari dai chhoi.

Now the vine has spread and bears the fruit of bliss. I churned the curd, took out the butter and threw away the whey.

Bhagat dekhi raaji hui, jagat dekhi roi, Daasi Meera Laal Giridhar, taaro ab mohi.

Seeing devotees I rejoice; seeing the world I weep. Meera is your servant, beloved Giridhar: carry me across now.
