Significance of Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu (Devi Stuti)
These verses come from the fifth chapter of the Devi Mahatmya (Durga Saptashati), where the gods praise the Goddess before her battle with Shumbha and Nishumbha. Each verse salutes her three times as the power present in all beings: as consciousness, intelligence, strength, peace, faith, fortune, compassion and the Mother herself. The stuti is chanted at Durga Puja pandals, during Navratri and before the Durga aarti, and closes here with the beloved Sarva Mangala Mangalye from chapter eleven.
