त्र्यंबकेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग, नासिक
📍 Trimbak, Nashik, Maharashtra
At the foot of the Brahmagiri hills, where the Godavari begins, Trimbakeshwar's Jyotirlinga is unique: a small hollow holds three lingas, for Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
गोदावरी के उद्गम पर — जहाँ एक ही गर्भ में ब्रह्मा, विष्णु और महेश के तीन लिंग हैं।
इतिहास History
The present black-stone temple was built in the 18th century by the Peshwa Balaji Bajirao (Nanasaheb).
Nashik and Trimbakeshwar host the Simhastha Kumbh Mela every twelve years, when the Godavari's tirthas draw millions.
कथा The legend
Sage Gautama was blessed with endless grain. When a cow he gently drove away died, he did penance to purify the land. Shiva brought down the Ganga here as the Godavari, also called 'Gautami', and stayed on as Tryambakeshwar, the three-eyed lord.
