Jheeni jheeni beeni chadariya, Kaahe kai taana kaahe kai bharni, kaun taar se beeni chadariya.

So finely, finely woven is this sheet! What is its warp and what its weft? With what thread was this sheet woven?

Ingla pingla taana bharni, sukhman taar se beeni chadariya, Aath kanval dal charkha dolai, paanch tatt gun teeni chadariya.

Ida and pingala are its warp and weft, and it was woven with the thread of sushumna. The spinning wheel of the eight-petalled lotus turns; the sheet is made of the five elements and the three gunas.

Saain ko siyat maas das laage, thonk thonk kai beeni chadariya, So chaadar sur nar muni odhi, odhi kai maili keeni chadariya.

It took the Lord ten months to sew, beating it tight as he wove this sheet. Gods, humans and sages all wore that sheet, and wearing it they soiled it.

Daas Kabir jatan kari odhi, jyon kin tyon dhar deeni chadariya.

Kabir, the servant, wore it with care, and has laid the sheet down exactly as it was given.

About the Jhini Jhini Bini Chadariya

Kabir, the 15th-century weaver-saint of Kashi, uses his own craft for his deepest teaching: the body is a fine sheet woven by God over ten months, with the subtle channels ida, pingala and sushumna as its threads. Gods, humans and sages all wore it and soiled it; Kabir wore it with care and gave it back exactly as it was.
